Winneshiek County Courthouse

Martin Gardner Architecture has worked with the Winnesheik County Board of Supervisors to help restore the historic Winnesheik County Courthouse on a variety of projects over the years. This long standing landmark was in need of a master plan to continue to serve the community for the next 100 years and through our Master Stabilization and Rehabilitation Plan we provided for the County we have completed a full roof replacement which had been plagued by leaks, new color changing rooftop LED lighting, a new lightning protection system, tower window replacements, and attic renovations. The Tower Restoration Project also was completed in two phases and consisted of repairing the copper dome, repointing all masonry joints, repairing the terra cotta columns and limestone detailing, and restoring the original copper eagle statuary. The Tower Restoration project received a $125,000 grant from the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant Project.
