99% Invisible is a podcast hosted by Roman Mars, and it explores “the unnoticed architecture and designs that shape our world.” I discovered the podcast while attending the American Institute of Architects Women’s Leadership Summit in September of 2019. This conference was a three-day affair with over 700 women in architecture from across the country in attendance. It was a powerful event that reminded me that women bring a unique perspective to the world around us. One of the breakout sessions focused on this aspect and heavily referenced Episode 363, Invisible Women: How to Overcome Data Bias in a World Designed for Men. https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/invisible-women/

Solving this problem could be as simple as being aware of the data bias that surrounds us. This episode and others implore looking at design problems with a fresh eye and seeing both halves of the human population. Making this simple change can help improve design for everyone.
